Online Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
November 24th, 2015 by Holden

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
