NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
April 9th, 2016 by Holden

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
