Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
November 25th, 2016 by Holden

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors in the world. While wagering on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
