Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
