Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
September 24th, 2019 by Holden

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world may be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be found wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
