Caribbean Poker Protocols and Pointers
November 9th, 2019 by Holden

Online poker has become globally famous lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. The games popularity, though, arcs back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many types on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with vingt-et-un than traditional poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house instead of each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up just before the dealer saying "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the house and of course all of the different gamblers acquire 5 cards. After you have looked at your hand and the casino’s first card, you must either make a call bet or accede. The call wager’s amount is equal to your original bet, indicating that the risks will have doubled. Surrendering means that your wager goes instantaneously to the dealer. After the wager is the showdown. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus a sum in accordance with the ante. If the casino does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The house pays out cash equal to your bet and set odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
