NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
July 16th, 2024 by Holden

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
