Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
August 4th, 2024 by Holden

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
